I've been hearing from a lot of writers that they're finding it tough to be productive during the summer with so many distractions. Have you been struggling, too? The good news is that it's nearly back-to-school time, which means time to get serious about your writing!
I hope you’ll consider joining my NEW 8-week writing workshop, “Writing from Personal Experience & Observations,” on Saturdays from 11 - 1 EST on Zoom, starting September 9. It's focused on personal essays, memoir, and opinion pieces, along with proven motivation techniques and guidance on getting published. The cost is $395, and there's also a BACK-to-SCHOOL DISCOUNT: If you sign up by September 2, the cost is just $345. Send me an email at meta@metawagner.com to register or if you have any questions.
I believe this workshop could really help you make progress in your writing. Here’s why:
My experience as a writing professor and workshop leader. I’ve been a writing professor and workshop leader for over 20 years at Emerson College, Boston University, and Grub Street. One of my favorite things in the world is facilitating a community of incredible writers, each there to learn about voice, style, and structure, share their work, and support each other with encouragement and thoughtful suggestions.
The optimal number of weeks. This workshop runs for eight weeks rather than six, which is how long many workshops go for. This means you’ll have more time to develop a bond with your peers and have your writing workshopped.
A unique component called “Beyond the Workshop.” Usually, once a workshop ends, all too often so does the work. It’s hard to go from a structured environment with deadlines to being out there on your own. I’ll give you the tools to keep you writing, based on my book and TEDx Talk, What’s Your Creative Type?, and, of course, this newsletter. We’ll also get real about publishing, not just writing (because don’t you all want to be published?), with lessons on how to target publications, how to write a query letter, etc.
Success of my former writing students. They’ve gone on to become New York Times bestselling authors. Their articles have been published in McSweeney’s, The Rumpus, and other sought-after publications, and their books have won prestigious awards and become book club choices.
