I’d like to sign up for the course but not sure if I’ve subscribed already! Did not receive a confirmation note. Please confirm one way or the other. Thank you!
Hi Kumkum. I'm so pleased you'd like to sign up for the workshop! You are an official subscriber to Page Fright. I'm sorry you never received a confirmation email - I've heard that unfortunately happens sometimes. I'll email you to start a direct conversation!
These questions are really helpful and gave me a needed jolt of connection with other writers. My specific commitment for the next week is to act on my writing impulses immediately (or once the car is parked if inspiration strikes while driving). I'm learning to not let inspiration get away.
Ha! Yes, please no writing while driving - though you could possibly record thoughts so they don't get away. A writer I know uses something called Aqua Notes (which I bought and will start using, too) to attach to the tiles in the shower since inspiration so often strikes there. I agree with you - I think we can't wait for inspiration to strike, but we'd better act on it when it does! Thanks so much for your comment.
Thank you, again, for asking the important questions. The réponses you derived were insightful to be sure. Many were speaking my own thoughts that I keep hidden.... sometimes from myself.
But this line about “why write....” really touched me. And I sense more kindred souls here after reading this:
“-I’m motivated by justice, grace, compassion, empathy, hope, and humanity. Usually one of these values is the why behind my writing.”
Thank you, Brian. We've missed you here! I do think we are ashamed sometimes of our insecurities about writing and that it's helpful to put them out there and see they're not so "weird' or shameful!
Wow, did I need to read this today. I'm editing a query letter for my novel and all the negative feelings came bubbling up. The why of writing must be powerful to push through all the debilitating doubts and fears. I'm saving this one to go back to 💙
Always love investigating this question! To answer your question: current goal is to get back into my hour-before-the-day-starts writing. I always find I do really fluid work then and also feel better after it. Even if I continue the same piece later in the day, there’s something really raw in those moments.
The "feeling better" part is so motivating to me. I sometimes forget what a difference it makes until I skip writing for a few days and then return to it. Thanks for your comment!

What a compelling case to take the proverbial tiger by the tail and begin to write --and tell your own unique story.
Thanks, Gina!!

The good news is that you're at the query letter point - that's so exciting!!
That is true! I forget that's an accomplishment, too. Thank you, Meta😊
